The Americans with
Disabilities Act was created for the "equality of opportunity, full
participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency" for persons
with disabilities (Gordon, et al, 1997). The most crucial aspect of ADA is the
prohibition of employment based on a disability (Gordon, et al, 1997). It is
the responsibility of the employer to abide by the laws and regulations of the
ADA to ensure that each employee can perform their work-related tasks with
necessary accommodations provided by the employer.
